Banyan Beach House

Oil Painting 40″x 30″

This is a painting of an old Key West House we saw last time we went to visit.  I love the beautiful southern charm of the wooden houses there. This particular house looked like it was left alone for a long time.  The banyan tree and the vine (a common house plant called Philodendron) had grown  “untamed”.  It’s what really caught my eye to paint it.

As I started painting, I was a bit overwhelmed by all the details going on.  I found that focusing on one part or section at a time, helped me get through it.

The little girl on the porch, eating her ice cream cone, reminds me of one of my favorite things to do when I was a kid. And the little cat is waiting patiently for a drop to fall!

Hope it brings back some good memories for you too!
